# Notion integration

> Add a page to a Notion database for every form submission. Sharing pages, choosing a database, and how fields become properties.

The Notion integration adds one page for each new submission to a database you pick, or one Ikiform creates inside a page you choose.

## Connect Notion

1. In the dashboard, open **Integrations** in the sidebar.
2. Open Notion and choose **Connect Notion**.
3. In Notion, pick the pages to share with Ikiform and approve. You come back to the dashboard when it's done.

You can also start from a form: adding Notion to a form that has no connection yet runs the same flow and brings you back to the form. One connection serves every form in the Ikiform workspace. See [Connect an app](https://ikiform.com/docs/integrations.md#connect).

## Permissions

Ikiform connects to Notion as a public connection with permission to read, update and insert content. Ikiform can only see and write to the pages you share during sign-in and the databases inside them, never the rest of your workspace.

## Create or choose a database

| Option | What happens |
| --- | --- |
| **Create a database** | Pick a shared page. Ikiform creates `<form name> responses (Ikiform)` inside it, with a `Name` title, a `Submitted at` date and a `Submission ID` text property |
| **Choose a database** | Pick any database Ikiform can see. If it doesn't have `Submitted at` and `Submission ID` properties, Ikiform adds them |

If a page or database is missing from the list, share it with Ikiform in Notion (**•••** menu, then **Connections**), then choose **Refresh**.

## Pages and properties

- Each submission adds one page. Fields are matched to properties by name, first exactly, then ignoring case, so a `phone` field fills a **Phone** property.
- A field with no matching property gets a new text property at the end.
- Values are converted to the property's type: text, email, phone, URL, number, checkbox (`yes`, `true`, `on`, `1` and their opposites), select, multi-select (comma-separated), status (it must match an existing option) and date (`YYYY-MM-DD` or a full ISO date and time).
- If a value doesn't fit its property, for example `soon` in a number property, it's written to a text property named after it with ` (text)` added, so nothing is lost.
- The page title is the first filled-in field, unless a field maps to the title property. A URL property named `Submission` gets a link to the submission in Ikiform; without one, the link goes in the page body.
- Before a retry writes a page, Ikiform looks up the submission's ID in `Submission ID`, so a retry never creates a duplicate. Test pages use the Submission ID `test`.

## When it stops writing

- If Ikiform was removed from the Notion workspace, the card says **Needs reconnecting**. Choose **Reconnect**.
- If the database is deleted, moved to the trash or no longer shared with Ikiform, that integration needs attention. Choose or create another database. Other forms keep working.

## Disconnect

Open Notion under **Integrations** and choose **Disconnect** on the connection. Ikiform's access to your Notion workspace is revoked. Pages already written stay in the database.

## Activity, retries and roles

Runs, retries, **Replay failed**, pausing and who can manage integrations work the same for every app. See [Activity and retries](https://ikiform.com/docs/integrations.md#activity), [Pause and resume](https://ikiform.com/docs/integrations.md#pause) and [Who can manage integrations](https://ikiform.com/docs/integrations.md#roles).
